At our first meeting with John*, he was nervous, tearing up as he told his story. As his only support, his brother joined us for a meeting, sharing John’s frustration with the system and confusion over what to do next. With a referral to MHALC from Lancaster County Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (BH/DS), John found the listening ear he needed to help with his struggles.

Over the course of the next few months, John had MHALC’s support in attending meetings at the welfare office and was awarded Social Security Disability and Medicare.  His mental health has improved tremendously as and he is now involved with MHALC support groups and giving back as a volunteer.

Everyone has a story, and MHALC is proud to be able to help people no matter where they are in theirs. John is just one example of someone who can get help at MHALC. Read about our different programs and services to see how we might support you.
