  • Information and Referral regarding mental illnesses, mental health services and/or issues


  • Client Family Advocate is concerned about your best interests and opportunities for a better life;to answer questions and make appropriate referrals; and to help you understand laws, rules, regulations and services. Call the MHALC office 717.397.7461 and ask to speak with Gretchen.


  • Community Education achieved through special programs, volunteer speakers, videos, books, pamphlets and MHALC's quarterly newsletter - The Beacon


  • Monitoring mental health services in Lancaster County through board and staff representation in local organizations enabling MHALC to identify gaps in services they are receiving.


  • Peer Educator to help educate on realities of mental illness and recovery in individual and or group settings. Recovery is possible and mental illness need not define who you are.


  • Alpha Clubs are social clubs for persons who have or are receiving professional help with mental/emotional problems. Activities focus on socialization and recreation. Clubs are located in Lancaster City, Ephrata, and Columbia.


  • Compeer Lancaster recruits,screens and trains adult volunteers from community to spend time in friendship activities with someone from mental illness. For more information or to volunteer, visit: www.compeerlancaster.org


  • Your Child @ is a parenting newsletter sent during the first five years of a child's life. The program helps parents understand the early psychological, emotional and physical development of children.


  • Public Policy We work at the local, state and federal levels to support or oppose policies, legislation, programs and regulations which impact the lives of persons with mental illnesses.


  • Lending Library Books, brochures and videos are available to anyone in the community. Clients, family members, professionals and any other interested individuals may borrow these materials free of charge. You may obtain a list calling 717.397.7461.
